Robert Kelly began working in film after studying for several years in the arts wing of Ballyfermot College of further education in Ireland. He first studied animation-drawing techniques and then acquired a HND in film operations and production. He learned the floor of the film set as a technician, working on numerous films, commercials and pop promos.
